The best sequence from Sátántangó. It’s about 10 minutes long, and the whole movie is 450 minutes long, so imagine watching this plus 44 (less jolly) versions of it and you’ve got a pretty good idea of what Sátántangó’s like. (Funny, my favorite part of Damnation is also a dance sequence. Tarr knows his strengths, I guess.)
Definitely the best sequence of the 4.5 hours I watched (at the Pacific Film Archive in 2007) before I couldn’t take any more. Worst: the cat cruelty.
